“The Gift”

“The Gift” WMTheGiftSo, I finally finished one (of five) prompts for my “Enchanted Visions” artist submissions.  The prompt was “The Gift” and I decided to capture the sweet innocence of my friend’s little girl.  I adore portraiture (especially children) and at this point, I am not sure I will even make prints of her.  I’d rather include her in my children’s book (which I am writing), with a poem, entitled, “The Gift.”  I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

“Shades of Blue” work-in-progress

I haven’t been painting much with summer break, family activities and my 20 year high school reunion ( how did that happen?).  I have some new works in rotation and possible news to announce.  Happy Hump Day!

Springing forward…

I forgot to post a quick picture of one of my latest paintings/illustrations for my children’s book.  I have yet to name it, so I will wait to post the final scan with the poem.  I really wish I had a bigger scanner (it is a bit challenging to work smaller than 8×10).  First World Problems…

…more progress was made on my baby acorn fairy.  I added the frost (shimmer) to the forest below.

Autumn acorns and inspiration…

Yes, I was the crazy lady collecting acorns at the park last week.  I can’t help it… they are adorable!  Small, intricate little messengers of Fall.  I picked fallen acorns to use as reference and as a focal point for my new series of mini sculptures (I will post pictures soon).
I had this particular composition burning in my head, so I ended-up sketching and painting today in my studio rotation.
Happy Autumn!
